SheATL Festival 2023

Did you know that in the last decade, only 8% of Broadway scores were written by women?
We want to change that. And so does
SheATL.

SheATL is a theater festival in Atlanta, Georgia that exists to uplift, amplify, and promote new and upcoming female theater writers. And our show was chosen to be part of their 2023 season. We believe women need to see their stories on stage - written from a female perspective. Enriching the landscape of the stories told on Broadway begins with investing in female writers — and She ATL is doing just that. They provided theater space, sound equipment, lighting equipment, dramaturg support, and rehearsal space for Rathskeller! They invited local audiences and theater industry professionals to come and enjoy the performances and give us valuable feedback. We were honored to have participated.

Industry Reading

April 25th, 2023 at Open Jar Studios in NYC!

The BIG ROOM was packed with Producers and other Broadway professionals to
hear (for the first time publicly) the new script and some additional songs for the show by Brianna Kothari Barnes!
They were all treated to a live version of “What Do I Deserve” by Brianna herself!!

The Concept Album

Featuring 10 of our favorite songs from the score written by our Composer/Lyricist, Brianna Kothari Barnes.

Arrangements and orchestrations by James Rushin and Drew Nichols.

The album was recorded with support from The NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and The New York Foundation For The Arts through The NYC Women’s Fund Grant which awarded 89 female artists in New York City, one of which was Brianna Kothari Barnes.

The NYC Women’ Fund for Media, Music, and Theater is part of a groundbreaking series of initiatives that address the underrepresentation of women in film, music, television and theater. The Fund provides grants to encourage and support the creation of content that reflect the voices and perspectives of all who identify as women.

Brianna chose two fantastic female engineers to work with on the project - 4x GRAMMY AWARD® winning Mixing Engineer, Denise Barbarita, of MONOLisa Studios in Queens, NY, and Mastering Engineer, Kiara Mudd, of BB4 Studios in Brooklyn, NY.

Artists on the album include: TAMIKA LAWRENCE (Broadway: Caroline or Change, Gettin’ The Band Back Together, Come From Away, Dear Evan Hansen, Beautiful, If/Then, Matilda, The Book of Mormon. Off-Broadway: Black No More, (Lortel and Drama Desk Nomination) Rent, Hercules and The Tempest (The Public Theater)), EMILY MORRIS (National Tour: Wicked (Elphaba Standby), Something Rotten. 1.5M on Tik Tok: @emilykristenmorris), ERIC GEIL (National Tour: The Book of Mormon) and more!
